Daniel was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was raised a Southern Baptist growing up attending Immanuel Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids with his family. He accepted Christ as Savior during a Sunday evening worship service at Immanuel. Since the age of fifteen Dan knew he was destined for service in ministry.
Dan attended Washington High School graduating in 2001. He joined the U.S. Army in 2002 and was deployed to Iraq from May 2003 to July 2004. While serving in Iraq he met many of the Iraqi people and felt a reaffirmation of his call into ministry. After leaving Iraq, he was transferred to a new duty station at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He met his wife, Cassandra, while attending Trinity Baptist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma. After four years of honorable military service, he left the Army in June 2006 and moved back to Cedar Rapids, where he married Cassie in October 2006.
Daniel attended Mount Mercy University while working as a security guard receiving a double major in Business Administration and Human Resource Management. He then attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary working toward a Masters of Divinity in Great Commission Studies. During this time Daniel served as a deacon at Immanuel Baptist leading the youth and teaching Sunday School. In June 2021, Daniel was ordained as an elder at Immanuel. On May 7, 2023, Daniel took over as pastor of Noelridge Park Church.
Daniel and Cassie have three children. Bethany Anne Schloss (Oct. 15, 2008 – Nov. 11, 2011), Nathaniel Matthew Schloss (Apr. 15, 2014) and Avigail Anne Schloss (Feb. 15, 2016).
